Game Boy Advance SP - Sticky Button Troubleshooting

What you will need:

  • 1 clean toothbrush (no toothpaste on it)l

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Turn off the Game Boy Advance SP system. Remove the AC adapter, and any Game Paks.
  2. Turn the system screen-side down..
  3. Using a clean, dry toothbrush, gently and thoroughly scrub the area around the buttons, working the bristles around the sides of the buttons.
  4. Test the system for proper response.
  5. Repeat the process if necessary. If cleaning doesn't solve a sticky button problem, the unit will need to be repaired. We do not advise opening the system or using liquid cleaners at any time.

If you have tried these steps and your system is still experiencing problems, your system will need to be repaired or replaced. Because this particular problem is caused by foreign material, it is considered physical damage and not covered under Nintendo's warranty. If your Game Boy Advance SP is within the warranty period, please call our Consumer Service department at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available repair options.
